Some of your fellow-travelers are rude, others are polite.

Some are so shy and reserved that they will hardly speak when spoken to, while others force their conversation upon reluctant listeners.

However, last Sunday I had a memorable journey by rail. Immediately, we moved to platform No.1 where the train was to arrive shortly.

We had not been there on the platform for more than a minute or two when the train arrived.

The train passed through many villages, towns and cities.

The things started to settle down when the train moved. The train moved at high speed and we were soon out of Delhi. The lush-green fields and tress seemed to welcome everywhere. It is also a very good platform for teachers who want to share their valuable knowledge. At first the train was slow but soon it gathered speed. It was late in the afternoon that the train reached Kolkata. As the train halted some people bought eatables and drinks from the vendors at the platforms. A travelling ticket Examiner came and checked our tickets.Occasionally in a railway train one meets well-informed and agreeable persons, whose conversation does much to relieve the tedium of a long journey.Even more interesting than the study of the different characters of one’s fellow-passengers, is the variety of the scenery through which the railway passes. You naturally look round the compartment with some interest to see what kind of Icon-passengers you have.Several different sections of the community are probably represented in every crowded carriage, and, noticing this, you are able to realise how railway travelling is in influence tending to diminish the exclusiveness of caste. All the houses, poles, fields and trees seemed to be running backwards. Within a few minutes, it gained the speed of the wind. We alighted from it and through the exit gate came out. As the poorer people of India have little regard for time, long before the moment of departure many of them have come to the station, and may be seen waiting patiently in clusters round their pots and pans and other luggage.Besides the actual passengers, the station is also crowded with those who have come to see their friends off.
