Considering the content of this site – which promotes science, reason, rationality, and of course, critical thinking – and combined with my family’s ties to the education system, I was eager to review the Mentoring Minds’ Total Motivation Math and Reading resources when asked .

Before engaging the resources specifically, and as any critical thinker would do, I jumped immediately to the “research” page, where a list of efficacy studies and product research was presented.

In this era, where there is simply so much information available online, it’s more important than ever to develop critical thinking skills early in life.

How else can one be confident in their decisions and conclusions?

We would recommend Mathnasium to any parent wanting his or her child/children to receive quality tutoring in math! We needed to get math tutoring for our niece within a limited time while she was on vacation.

After a year of nearly every day Mathnasium is open, my daughter is now at grade level, confident and just missed getting an A on her report card by one point--contrasted with being nearly two grade levels behind when we began working with the Mathnasium staff. The folks at Mathnasium found a way to make that happen. She went from being fearful of math and dreading math homework to math being her favorite subject. She enjoyed going , loved the instructors and said it was really helping her to understand what she hadn't before. The focus on learning patterns and tactics for problem solving versus rote memorization has worked wonders for her ability to 'get' math.We are grateful for the help and a great experience! My so wasn't too thrilled when we first told him that he would be going to do "math work" during the summer. The tutors are relatable and explain things clearly. She came out of the meeting much more confident and ready for the exam.We will definitely be back for more support as needed. It concluded that although faculty may aspire to develop student’s thinking skills, in practice, they have tended to aim at facts and concepts utilizing the lowest levels of cognition, rather than developing intellect, values, and thinking skills. One only has to review their Facebook timeline, Twitter feed, or many online forums to find evidence of lack of critical thinking: links to the secret files for alien cover ups; viral images that were conceived in Photoshop; misinformation/disinformation in videos, and medical “breakthroughs” promoted by quacks abound. He will attend during the summer to prepare him for next year with the hopes that the upcoming year will be a much better experience with math than the present year. Do you have someone who can help him with that class? She used to dread going to tutoring sessions but now she asks when she can go back to Mathnasium! My son went once and said it was a great experience. Not to mention, her grades are soaring through the roof which makes me a happy Mom! My grandson attends and sometimes objects to going but always comes out smiling and feeling good about himself. After his first session, he fell in love with it and is excited after camp when we tell him he is going to mathnasium for a session. We are excited for our younger son to be able to start (he's 4). I am amazed at the skills my granddaughter has developed in a short time. Cindy and her staff are AWESOME, AMAZING people who are making a difference in the life of children. The cost is high for most families but the results are out of this world. I have observed the staff working with him and find that they are patient and kind with the learning process. Everyone is so friendly and knows my daughter by name now which makes her feel completely at ease! Not only has Mathnasium improved her math skills greatly but they have helped her self confidence. Education is the most important gift we can give to our children to build their future.
